ANZ customers could be barred from banking at AusPost

ANZ customers could effectively be barred from banking at post offices.

The bank has so far refused the terms of a new offer by Australia Post to continue providing banking services to ANZ customers at post offices.

Westpac and NAB have already agreed to the deal, following CBA’s $110-million deal last week.

Australia Post CEO Christine Holgate tells Ross Greenwood banking customers rely on community post offices.

“20km for a small business, well that’s like Sydney’s CBD to the airport and back… it’s a pretty long way to expect for small business to go to, to go and find a branch.”

Ms Holgate is putting the pressure on the bank to do what’s right.

“It’s up for them, whether they want to protect this service for their customers. I really hope they choose to.”
