“Archaic” Portsea Pub under fire over wheelchair accessibility
Portsea Pub has come under fire over wheelchair accessibility.
3AW listener Ellie took her wheelchair-bound sister to the pub on Easter Sunday, but found it almost impossible to get around.
Ellie’s sister was unable to actually enter the building, and most tables outside were also inaccessible.
Then, they had to head 250m down the road to use the toilet.
“It was just archaic,” Ellie said.

Portsea Pub has admitted it needs an upgrade, and expects to do so soon.
“The Portsea Pub is an old tired pub which will undergo a renovation in the coming months,” the pub’s management said in a statement.
“The current disabled access is via a removable ramp managed by the staff to assist patrons to get to the first floor and disabled toilets.
“The redevelopment of the pub has improved services for all customers including disabled access so everyone can have a great experience when visiting Portsea.”
