Arcto the seal is back and enjoying Dromana Beach

Arcto the bull seal has returned to Dromana Beach, but experts warn not to get too close!

Abby Smith, Wildlife Officer of Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning spoke with Nick McCallum to remind beachgoers that the seven-year-old seal is still a wild animal and you shouldn’t get too close.

‘Despite him looking to be a huggable loving animal, he’s still a wild animal, he may weigh up to 250kg,’ she tells 3AW Drive.

‘They carry quite a nasty bacteria on his teeth and as a defensive measure he may or will bite.’

Ms Smith says this is Arcto’s third season at Dromana.
