You may have heard that redheads are at risk of extinction… but is it true?

This morning Ross and John asked Professor Mark Elgar, evolutionary biologist from the University of Melbourne.

He said that while people with red hair and blue eyes are very rare, making up just .17 per cent of the global population, they’re not at risk of extinction.

“There’s a myth that has been running around from year to year, that because they’re so rare… they’re likely to die out. But it really is a myth, it’s very unlikely that it’ll happen.”
