Are the banks doing a better job?

Bank fees? Branch staffing? Off-shore call centres? Executive salaries? These are some of the common gripes about banks but are they doing a better job?

3AW’s Neil Mitchell spoke with Chief Executive of the Australian Bankers Association Steven Munchenberg on the back of the ABA’s current advertising campaign, ‘Together we’re making Australian banking better.’

So why the need for this latest campaign? Mr Munchenberg saying ‘We know that people want banks to do better, we’ve heard the concerns people have got about their banking and we are doing a whole pile of stuff to fix that.’ Asked whether the banks are fixing these problems because of a Royal Commission threat… ‘If we don’t fix these things, customers have got a lot of choice out there, they will start moving to other institutions…’
