‘Are we surprised?’: Tom Elliott reacts to the latest CFMEU revelations

Labor MPs have been called on to return donation money gifted to them by the CFMEU.

Tom Elliott says he’s not surprised the state government seems to be trying to divert the public’s attention.

“So the state Labor Party gets millions of dollars from the CFMEU and then says ‘No, no, no, we can’t have a royal commission into corruption within the CFMEU because there’s nothing to see here’,” he said.

Expert in political marketing from the Australian National University, Dr Andrew Hughes, said the Labor Party’s links with the CFMEU is a conflict of interest.

“They need to clean up these laws,” Dr Hughes said on 3AW Mornings.
