Arrest made after pickpocket targets elderly man in an RSL
A man has been arrested and charged after an elderly man’s wallet was pinched during a pickpocket-style theft at the Glenroy RSL.
Police confirmed they’d arrested a 25-year-old male at Pascoe Vale on Wednesday.
He has since been charged with theft, possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing a drug of dependence.
The victim’s personal documents and cards from the wallet were recovered during the arrest.
Douglas, 86, was crossing the venue using a walking frame when his wallet was pinched from his back pocket just before 3pm on August 3.

He told Neil Mitchell the theft gave him “a dirty feeling”.
“I feel bloody terrible,” the victim said.
Douglas says he had at least $300 in his wallet when it was snatched.

The alleged thief fled the scene in a black Honda Jazz.
