Arrests made after family having a picnic is brutally attacked

RUMOUR CONFIRMED
Emergency police lights

Police have charged a man and a woman over a shocking attack on two women having a picnic in Melbourne’s east.

Two middle-aged women and two 12-year-old girls were having a picnic at Slater Reserve at 4:30pm on Thursday afternoon when it’s alleged a man and woman began swearing at the girls and removing QR codes from the park fencing.

One of the women was allegedly kicked by an attacker who tried to remove her face mask.

Two men who came to help were threatened by a man who set his dog on them, suffering bites to their hands.

The two 12-year-old girls were not physically injured during the incident and ambulance attended the scene and treated the four adults.

Police have since arrested and charged a 44-year-old man and 35-year-old woman.

They have been bailed to face court in March.

Police are also appealing to any witnesses or anyone who may have been in the park or surrounding area at the time who may have witnessed this incident and may have captured on mobile phone to contact police.
