Ashton backs the SOG amid criticism of how MH128 emergency was handled
Victoria’s police chief has launched a passionate defence of the Special Operations Group amid mounting criticism of the handling of the MH128 bomb threat.
Passengers and have expressed their frustrations at the 90 minute wait for police to arrest the man who had allegedly threatened to blow up the Malaysia Airlines flight at Melbourne Airport.
Graham Ashton has told Neil Mitchell he is very proud of his team and wouldn’t change a thing.
“They are an outstanding group of individuals who put their lives on the line everyday,” said Commissioner Ashton.
“I’ve seen them operate, Neil.
“They make acts of bravery look an an every day trip to the milk bar.”
