ATAGI changes COVID-19 vaccine advice for over 65s
The nation’s top vaccine advisory group has changed its advice on COVID-19 vaccines for older Australians.
A fourth dose of vaccine is now recommended for everyone over 65.
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has advised that adults 65 and over receive their fourth jab four months after their last booster.
The fourth jab is also recommended for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 50, nursing home residents, and anyone who is severely immunocompromised.
It’s understood ATAGI is recommending a winter dose to protect older Australians against severe illness, as vaccine immunity continues to wane heading into the colder weather.
