Australia’s Attorney-General has detailed and defended the government’s proposed Religious Discrimination Bill, which it says will protect statements of faith.

But it’s also sparked concerns about possible discrimination due to sexuality.

Michaelia Cash, Attorney-General of Australia, said there were protections in place to make sure that didn’t happen.

“It draws a very clear line against harassment, against vilification, against intimidation, and against threatening anybody,” she said.

“If you step into that territory, you are not covered by the bill.”
