Australia Post has been accused of ‘cooking’ the books in an attempt to push an agenda.

The national mail company has posted its first annual loss in more than 30 years, with Australia Post CEO Ahmed Fahour saying letter-posting was in ‘terminal’ decline.

But Martin O’Nea, spokesperson for the Communication Workers Union, told 3AW Drive things weren’t as gloomy as Mr Fahour would have you believe.

‘There is an agenda here,’ he said on 3AW Drive.

‘We believe he (Fahour) has got tunnel vision on the issue.’
