Australia has retained Ashes, with hometown hero Scott Boland leading the charge.

England began day three trailing Australia’s first innings by 51 runs.

But hopes of an English miracle were quickly dashed.

Mitchell Starc broke through in the first half hour clean bowling Ben Stokes.

Then it was time for the Scott Boland show. The 32-year-old Victorian, who was brought into the side as an MCG specialist, tore through England, taking 6-7 from four overs.

Cameron Green took the last wicket as Australia won by an innings and 14 runs, taking a 3-nil lead to Sydney for the New Year Test.
