Australia’s big Food Standards body effectively authorised food to contain industrial hemp seeds.

Food Standards Australia New Zealand gave the seeds a green light yesterday, but how safe are they?

Andrew Katelaris spoke with 3AW Mornings.

He was a doctor for 23 years before being deregistered in 2005 due to his involvement with medicinal marijuana.

‘The hemp seed itself produces a food of exceptional nutritional balance,’ he said.

Katelaris explained that Australia and New Zealand are the very last countries to make this move.

‘This has been a grindingly slow process, for something so beneficial.’
