Australia to reach major population milestone this week as migration hits ‘big’ new record

Australia’s population is expected to reach 27 million on Thursday.

It’s well ahead of 2022 predictions, which forecast the nation’s population wouldn’t reach 25 million until 2042.

“We’re adding a million people every 18 months at the moment, this is the largest population increase that we’ve ever had and it’s way ahead of what the planning, the forecasting and the housing construction can keep up with,” social researcher at McCrindle, Mark McCrindle, told Tom Elliott.
