Boomers assistant coach Luc Longley has told Ross and John he still keeps in touch with his Chicago Bulls teammates, including Michael Jordan.

The 7’2 Aussie basketball legend joined 3AW Breakfast ahead of USA vs Australia tickets going on sale tomorrow.

“I’ve never played or seen a game with 50,000 people in my whole career, even with MJ,” Luc said.

“I think the most we had was 30,000 so 50,000 is gonna be loose.”

Ross also asked Luc if he’s got Michael Jordan’s number saved in his phone.

“It does, I do keep in touch with the guys,” Luc said.

“It’s not listed as Michael Jordan though, let me tell you. Only fair to MJ, if my phone gets stolen on the street!

“Conversely I’m sure I’m in his phone as Luc Longley!”

Luc said the Australian cohort playing in the NBA are an impressive bunch of young players, and believes Melbourne’s own Ben Simmons will be one of the best players in the world.

“We’ve got an amazing crop of young basketballers in the NBA, we’ve got about 10 now and when I was playing I was the only one,” he said.

“Ben will be if he’s not already, one of the best players on the planet, he’s got a lot of work to do it but I think he’s hungry and he’s got the skills.

“We (the Boomers) feel like we’re right there, add guys like Ben and Thon Maker, we’re going to be really good, I can’t wait already.”

Australia takes on the USA on Thursday 22nd August at 7.30pm and Saturday 24th August at 2pm, 2019.

Tickets available to the general public tomorrow from 1pm at ticketmaster.com.au
