Australian cricketing great Mike Hussey says changes have to be made to the light rules for Test cricket.

Day two of the third Test between Australian and Pakistan came to a premature end on Thursday afternoon, with players hauled off the field after bad light stopped play at the SCG.

While Hussey said play shouldn’t continue “at all costs”, it was important to now look at alternative measures to ensure long periods of play isn’t lost to bad light in the future.

“I don’t want to play at all costs,” he told Matt Granland on Wide World of Sports.

“Player safety is very important and we need to keep the integrity of the Test match and keep it fair. But the light (today) wasn’t that bad and it didn’t seem dangerous for the players.”
