Australian government may force Spotify to change algorithm

The Australian government may soon force music streamers including Spotify and Apple Music to preference Australian music in a bid to throw the struggling industry a lifeline.

Federal Arts Minister Tony Burke has put forward the idea.

Music industry consultant and former CEO of Music Victoria, Patrick Donovan, says “we need market intervention because we’ve basically got market failure”.
