Australian great doesn’t want Chris Gayle back in the BBL, shares thoughts on Mitch Marsh
Australian cricket great Ian Chappell says he doesn’t want to see Chris Gayle back in the Big Bash League.
The West Indian batsman set tongues wagging overnight with an unbeaten 146 off just 69 balls in the Bangladesh Premier League.
It was his 20th ton in Twenty20 cricket and has led to calls from some to bring him back here this summer.
But Chappell has no interest.
“I said after the incident with Mel (McLaughlin) he shouldn’t be contracted in Australia and I haven’t changed my opinion,” he said.
Chappell, meanwhile, expects Mitch Marsh to be selected in the Third Test on Thursday.
And he understands the thinking behind it.
“I think it’s mostly about trying to keep those four quicks fit to play in all five,” he explained.
“I also think the selectors are quite rightly worried about Handscomb.”
