Japanese search and rescue teams have reportedly found an Australian family missing in a ski field.

Relatives of the family saw a call for help on Facebook and contacted local police to tell them the group was in trouble.

A search resumed on the summit for the woman and her three sons, reportedly finding them safe and well this morning.

David Elsworth runs the Schneider Hotel in Nozawa Onsen Japan, he tells 3AW’s Tony Jones the missing people posted on Facebook at 9pm last night they were safe and digging a hole to stay the night in.

David tells 3AW Mornings, ‘We’ve had a couple of metres of snow of the last couple of days.’
