Australian Sex Party calling for trial drug injecting rooms at North Richmond

Sex Party leader Fiona Patten is calling for an 18 month trial of a legal injecting room at North Richmond.

She tells 3AW Drive’s Tom Elliott that Australia has been supplying needles to drug users for the last 30 years.

‘What I want to do is establish legislation for a pilot program for a medically supervised injection centre to be operating in North Richmond.’

‘This is about saving lives,’ says Ms Patten.

‘You cannot have state money spent on a drug injecting room, while at the same time you have state government rules that say drugs are illegal,’ Tom Elliott said on 3AW Drive.
