Half of people with type 2 diabetes can place their illness into remission by eating a low-carb diet for a year, a new Australian study has found.

Sports medicine physician, Dr Peter Brukner, says the study has replicated the findings made by other overseas studies.

“We found 52 per cent of those have put their diabetes into remission, which is not supposed to be able to happen!,” he told Ross and Russel.

“The great thing about this is it gives people hope.

“It’s a huge problem in Australia, we’ve got about 1.2 million people in Australia diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, they think there’s another half a million undiagnosed, and we’ve got a couple million more with pre-diabetes.”
