Australian wildlife ‘under attack’ like never before
Australia’s native wildlife is under attack like never before, with warnings more of our unique flora and fauna is at risk of disappearing unless urgent action is taken.
Invasive species and diseases from overseas find their way into the country through international travel, whether it’s smuggling or simply ‘hitching’ a ride on cargo, causing problems.
“A lot of our wildlife is at risk,” Andreas Glanznig, CEO of the Centre for Invasive Species Solutions at the CSIRO, told Ross and Russel.
“It’s already driven 79 native species to extinction.”
