Australian woman in Israel pleads for government to help stranded Aussies

Tom Elliott

An Australian woman living in Israel is pleading for the Australian government to make it easier for people in her position to return home.

Nicole Brodie is Australian but her nine-year-old daughter’s passport is expired and her five-year-old twins don’t hold Australian passports.

She’s been told to physically visit the Australian Embassy in Israel with her children — which she isn’t comfortable doing — and she’s urging the Australian government to make it easier for her to apply for permission to bring her kids to safety.

“I don’t know why it’s so difficult,” she told Neil Mitchell. “I feel like it’s a state of crisis, Australia should be saying … if you want to come home and you have Israeli kids just come home”.
