Australia’s first advanced recycling plant is opening in Melbourne’s west in a decision backed by giants Mondelez International and Amcor.

This recycling method is used in Europe and it is hoped it will help ease Australia’s crisis highlighted by Redcycle’s collapse last year.

Lecturer at Deakin University’s school of life and environmental sciences Dr Trevor Thornton says “it’s technology which is known.. it will work and we’ll get these plastics out of the waste stream”.
