Australia’s top 10 most affordable regional areas

Three Victorian regional areas have been included in a list of Australia’s top 10 most affordable regional areas.

The Northern Grampians, Bendigo and Wodonga were included in PRD Real Estate’s 2022 Roaring Regions report.

Real estate agent in Northern Grampians, Graeme Male, said his area is “certainly a good spot to live”.

While it’s still affordable, it’s seen a pandemic tree-change boom.

“Our entry level properties have gone from, probably 18 months ago $130,000 or $140,000, to $230,000 to $260,000 for just a basic three-bedroom weatherboard that probably needs a lot of work,” he told Stephen Quartermain and Emily Power, filling in for Ross and Russel.

“The demand is fuelled by people trying to get out of Melbourne … driving around Victoria they’ve found a lot of these country towns.”

• Griffith
• Northern Grampians
