Average salaries blow out at ‘bloated’ metropolitan councils

The average salary at seven “bloated” city councils has blown out to more than $120,000.

Council Watch spokesperson, Dean Hurlston, says the City of Melbourne and City of Yarra both have almost 10 staff per thousand residents, while many other metropolitan councils have only four or five per thousand.

“I think right now when we’ve got the lowest satisfaction with council service delivery in 20 years, something needs to change,” he said.
