UPDATE: A baby boy has been found safe and well after he was inside a car when it was allegedly stolen at Keysborough.
Victoria Police has since confirmed a 46-year-old man is in custody following the terrifying incident on Tuesday.
He will face court on Wednesday, charged with kidnapping, theft of motor vehicle, commit indictable offence whilst on bail and unlicensed driving.
The terrifying incident began shortly after 2pm when the white Toyota RAV 4 was allegedly stolen on Putt Grove.
Police have been told an adult had just exited the still running Toyota when the accused allegedly entered the driver’s seat and drove away from the scene with the 11-month-old baby still inside.
It led to a dramatic search for the vehicle, which was found at Cranbourne shortly after 5.30pm.
