Baby’s best friend: Loyal dog helps searchers find missing toddler
A missing toddler has been found safe and well after going missing with her dog south-east of Melbourne last night.
The girl, aged 2, was wearing just a nappy and T-shirt when she disappeared from the family’s home at Crossover, near Warragul, about 7.30pm.
Police, the SES and CFA volunteers spent most of the night searching surrounds with the dog squad and helicopters.
And, almost seven hours later, the searchers were able to find the black dog, which quickly led to the girl’s recovery.

‘The dog had stayed with the little girl, and that had helped us locating her, lying down, safe and well,’ Senior Sergeant Allan Rumble told 3AW News.
‘I know how relieved and happy we were, so I can only imagine how happy the family were.’
The girl has been taken to hospital.
She has mild hypothermia but is otherwise safe and well.
