The Rainbow Serpent music festival, notorious for festival goer’s avid drug use, has again been marred by a number of serious offences.

As reported in The Herald Sun, police are disappointed with the amount of offending, with two sexual assaults and 44 drug drivers caught in the Lexton area surrounding the festival.

Acting Superintendent Graham Banks told Ross and John the festival is always problematic for police

“Approximately 18,000 attend these events and it’s a remote area, there’s significant presenting to the medical facilities there,” Superintendent Banks said.

He said one person has been charged in a relation to one of the sexual assaults and another matter remains outstanding.

“The other which is extremely serious is being managed by the Sexual Crimes Squad.”
