Ballarat outlines plans for a pop-up beach

It’s better known for snow than sun, but Ballarat has unveiled plans to lure beach-goers.

The council is considering trucking in tonnes of sand to recreate a beach front on Lake Wendouree.

The water quality isn’t good enough for swimming, but councillor Samantha McIntosh told Ross and John the community is getting behind the bold idea.

Cr McIntosh said it’s about providing opportunity for people who would otherwise leave town to go to the beach.
