Ban on heavy trucks on the West Gate Bridge to begin November 1

A ban on heavy trucks using the West Gate Bridge starts on November 1.

So, where will they go?

The ban covers trucks weighing more than 68.5 tonnes.

Vince Punaro, Regional Director for VicRoads North West Metro Region, said those unable to use the bridge would likely seek an alternate route through Yarraville.

‘Those vehicles would need to run through other approved routes, like Francis Street,’ he explained.
