‘Bandaid solutions to a wicked problem’: Doctor pleas for reform of an ‘out of date’ health system

Dr Anita Munoz, Victorian Chair of the Royal Australia College of General Practitioners, has pleaded for reform of the health system amidst a shortage of GP’s in the industry.
Some clinics are saying there are five week waits for appointments to see a GP, with Dr Munoz claiming it’s been a problem for decades now.

“The work is incredibly complex and full of uncertainty, and there’s not been adequate recognition of the work that GP’s do,” Dr Munoz told Heidi Murphy, filling in for Dee Dee.
“There is a reluctance to undertake serious and meaningful reform of a health system that just does not work anymore, and a funding system that is now 40 to 50 years out of date.”
