Barnaby Joyce resigns as leader of the National Party

Barnaby Joyce is resigning as leader of the National Party.

He announced he’d be stepping down as Deputy Prime Minister on Monday.

It follows weeks of intense scrutiny after his relationship with a staffer was made public.

Mr Joyce said it was due to constant “leaking and backgrounding”.

“It will destroy any government,” he said.
