That’s who the Liberal Party hopes to swoon by dumping Tony Abbott for Malcolm Turnbull, political reporter Barrie Cassidy told Ross and John.

And Cassidy believes the move will be more of a circuit-breaker than when Julia Gillard deposed Kevin Rudd.

‘I think there’s differences this time; there wasn’t the destabilisation that went on in the Labor government, nothing like that,’ he told 3AW Breakfast.

‘(Ms Gillard’s removal of Mr Rudd) surprised (voters), it shocked them, they weren’t ready for it.

‘They were surely ready for this.’
