Bathurst’s first all-female driving team has applauded the massive fine for a male competitor who referred to their car as ‘pussy wagon’.

V8 Supercars driver Dave Reynolds was fined $25,000 for the comment at a press conference in the lead-up to Bathurst 1000 this weekend.

The manager of Renee Gracie, one of the drivers, said the women were surprised by the comment, but had accepted Reynolds’ apology.

‘It’s biggest fine in the history of the sport, and it shows the position of V8 Supercars … that those sort of comments will not be acceptable,’ manager Chris Jewell said.

Former V8 star Cameron McConville said the comment was unacceptable.

‘That will be something David Reynolds regrets for a long time,’ he told 3AW Afternoons.

‘I know Dave really well, he’s certainly light-hearted and a bit of a practical joker but that one went too far, no doubt.’
