Ben Carroll makes decision on potential Victorian Labor leadership candidacy

On Monday morning, Deputy Premier Ben Carroll reconsidered his previous position not to run as a contender for premier against Jacinta Allan.

Political reporter Heidi Murphy told 3AW Mornings host Tom Elliott she understood he had told the premier he would be a candidate against her if there is a leadership spill.

“My understanding is overnight he [Carroll] took a number of calls from MPs across different factions urging him to reconsider that stance and urging him to put his name forward,” she said.
