‘Best feeling in the world’: Michelle Payne’s candid comments on historic Cup win

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne says she was overjoyed after seeing Jamie Melham’s win Tuesday’s Cup aboard Half Yours.

A decade after Payne became the first female jockey to win the country’s greatest race, Melham made more history to become the first female to win the Caulfield Cup-Melbourne Cup double.

“For everything to unfold and know you’re home (200m out),” she told Wide World of Sports from Flemington.

“It’s the best feeling in the world – I was so excited for her.”
