It follows a report in the Herald Sun that Melbourne is being urged to capitalise on its parks and gardens and bid to become a national park city, like London.

3AW Breakfast had some ideas for best-kept secrets:

British geographer and explorer Daniel Raven-Ellison is the man behind London’s successful proposal and is currently in Melbourne, and he said there are so many gardens that deserve recognition.

He said Melbourne is a “phenomenally green city”.

“There is mounting evidence now that shows having a better relationship with nature is better for nature itself, it’s better for people’s mental health and well being,” he said.

“It’s really important resilience of the city’s landscape itself in terms of dealing with high temperatures, flooding as well.”
