Bill Shorten has conceded the election.

The Opposition Leader said on Sunday that it was clear that Malcolm Turnbull will be able to form government.

‘I respect that Malcolm Turnbull has won the election and I have rung him up and conveyed my congratulations,’ Mr Shorten said.

‘I am proud Labor is back and that Labor is united.’

Mr Shorten said he knows the Parliament needs to be able to function properly.

‘Where there is common ground we will work very hard to accomplish that,’ he said.

‘I hope for our nation’s sake that the Coalition does a good job.’
