‘Bite the bullet’: Tom Elliott’s idea to turn post offices into actual banks

Tom Elliott has given his idea this morning to turn post offices into actual banks, as more and more bank branches close across the country.

The 3AW Mornings host explained how post offices are now having to accept large amounts of cash over the counter.

“Why don’t we just bite the bullet here and make the post office a bank?” he said.

Executive Director of Licensed Post Office Group, Angela Cramp, said she couldn’t agree with Tom Elliott’s idea more.

“We are the retail arm of Australia Post, and that is exactly what we believe,” Ms Cramp said.
