A man has been arrested following a series of 12 fires in Frankston at the weekend.

When police arrested the 31-year-old on Sunday night after an extensive search they found two live ducklings in his underwear.

The arrest follows a series of small fires which included blazes in a loading dock, behind a school, in a shop car park, outside a real estate agent and in several bins.

The man has been charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury and four counts of lighting fire in open air, as well as a weapons charge, an animal cruelty charge and negligently dealing with proceeds of crime.
