RUMOUR FILE

City of Yarra residents kept losing their bins.

“Usually we find them further down the road, but over the past couple months we haven’t been able to find them at all,” a Rumour File caller told 3AW Breakfast.

One resident checked their CCTV footage, and discovered the possible cause — the footage shows a garbo apparently throwing an entire bin in his truck!

After the show, Yarra Council got back to 3AW, claiming “it is common practice in the industry for damaged bins that cannot be repaired, or for bins that are particularly unsanitary, to be picked up and taken by the garbage truck”.

“The bin in Stawell Street, Richmond was removed by our contractor because it was damaged and its contents were deemed to be particularly unsanitary. This is not an unusual occurrence. We have been in contact with the resident today and advised him that the bin will be replaced at no charge, as per our standard practice.”
