Article image for BLOG: Fifth ODI Australia vs Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval

Australia has defeated Pakistan by 57 runs to win the 5 match series 4-1.

The day began with an extraordinary partnership between Australian opening pair David Warner and Travis Head.  Dominating from the outset they piled on 284 to record the highest ever Australian partnership in an ODI.  Individually Warner surpassed his previous highest score by one and given an opportunity to open the batting Head registered his maiden international century.

Another ODI, another formidable Australian total for Pakistan to chase.  A positive innings from talented batsman Sharjeel Khan and 3 figure score from Babar Azam provided some credibility to the outing.

The player of the match and the player of the series is David Warner.

Australia 7/369: David Warner 179, Travis Head 128

David Warner continues to astound.  It’s not only that he amasses runs, it’s his determination, athleticism and sheer shot making ability.  Those who dismiss the numbers to the size of the bat are miscalculating.  He is hungry for runs.  No ball is safe, good or bad.

Pakistan were powerless against the outstanding record partnership of 284.  A maiden international century for home town boy Travis Head displayed the 3 dimensional skills of the 23 year old off spinner.
