Australia wins ODI 1 by 92 runs| Australia 9/268 (50 overs) defeated Pakistan 176 (42.4 overs)

Following Australia’s comprehensive victory in ODI 1 against Pakistan Mike Hussey reflected upon the difference between Australian and Pakistan.  Matthew Wade came to the crease following an unusually swift top order collapse and fought to build an innings worthy of defending.  Whether it be inexperience or a lack of cricket smarts, Pakistan lack the ability to work themselves out of difficult situations.  It’s all about endeavour, little things, the continual application of pressure upon your opponent.   Hear Mike Hussey and Greg Matthews sum up Australia’s win in ODI 1 at the Gabba

 

 

 

Australia 9/268| Matthew Wade 100*, Glenn Maxwell 60

The highlight of the Australian innings was the gutsy century from Matthew Wade.  Coming into bat when Australia was struggling on 5/78 he built a partnership with Glenn Maxwell, who incidentally played a mature and responsible innings before his dismissal on 6/160.  Wade, suffering in the stifling heat as his partners came and went, saw to his team batted out the 50 overs, scoring his 100th run on the final delivery of the innings.
