The Perth Scorchers have defeated the Brisbane Heat by 27 runs.

Perth’s Andrew Tye finished the game off with a hat-trick and with the impressive figures of 4/22 as the Scorchers make their push to secure a finals birth. Scorcher skipper Michael Klinger was named man of the match after his knock of 81 in front of a sell out crowd of 34,677 at the Gabba, a new domestic record for the ground.

1st Innings: Perth Scorchers 5/156 after 20 overs.

The Brisbane Heat require 157 runs for victory as they chase their fifth win of the season and look to secure their spot on top of the league table in BBL|06. Michael Klinger was the star of the Scorchers innings with the bat finishing with 81 off 54 deliveries including two 6’s and six 4’s. Swepson and Steketee the pick of the Heat’s bowlers picking up 2 wickets apiece.

The Brisbane Heat have won the toss and elected to bowl first.

The KFC Big Bash is back at the Gabba tonight with the Brisbane Heat playing host to the Perth Scorchers. The Heat come into tonight’s match sitting top of the table at 4-1 with the Scorchers at 3-2. Last time the two teams met it was the Heat who were too hot to handle, Bash Brothers Chris Lynn (98*) and skipper Brendon McCullum (51*) decimating the Scorchers bowling attack and leading Brisbane to a 9-wicket victory at the Furnace.

Both teams come into tonights game without key personnel. The Heat will be without master-blaster Chris Lynn (Australian ODI duties) and Nick Buchanan (rested) whilst the Scorchers will be without Mitch Marsh (Australian ODI duties), Adam Voges (injury), James Muirhead (injury) and David Wiley (English Duties). With finals spots up for grabs, there’s sure to be plenty of fireworks in front of a sell-out crowd at the Gabba.
