STUMPS: Pakistan – 1/55 Azhar Ali 11, Yasir Shah 3

Australia – 2/241 dec  Khawaja 79, Handscomb 40

Fireworks from David Warner and solid batting from Khawaja, Smith and Handscomb are indicative of Australia’s ruthless desire to complete the 3 nil white wash against Pakistan.  Australia closed out he innings on 2/241 leaving the dispirited tourists 464 to chase.  Bright and breezy from Sharjeel but not what Pakistan wanted was dismissed on 40.

Tea: Australia – 1/117 Khawaja 30, Smith 25

A second day of rain interruptions greeted players and fans at the SCG on day 4.  Losing a session Younis Khan resumed his superb innings on 136.  It was splendid to see the Pakistan master return to form most likely for the last time at the SCG having salvaged his team’s respect and competitiveness. Ultimately he ran out of partners and departed the ground to warm applause unbeated on 175.

Equalling outstanding but a different type of spectacle was ventured from David Warner.  Scoring 21 off a single over, Warner eclipsed the Australian record previously held by Bruce Yardley to reach 50 off just 23 balls.

Highlights from these two batsmen was enough to forget the rain.
