A gunman is on the run after a shooting in Cranbourne East this morning.

Blood has been spilled across the street after the violence broke out on Elmslie Drive about 6am.

A man, 26, has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have blocked three streets in the area.

Nine News reporter Lana Murphy told Ross and John about a dozen police were at the scene.

“I can see there’s blood on both side of the road,” she said. “There’s droplets of blood everywhere.”

Murphy said residents were “looking quite upset”.

One neighbour said a speeding car drove past minutes before the shooting.

“A neighbour I spoke to a little earlier said that he heard a car driving past quite quickly, revving its engine just before 6am.

“So whether or not that’s related or not we’ll confirm later.”
