UPDATE: The parents of a five-year-old girl who was inside a BMW when it was stolen during a terrifying carjacking at Wyndham Vale have been reunited with their daughter.

Police sent out an urgent message for help after the car was reported stolen about 6.30am on Thursday morning.

It’s believed one of the parents went back inside briefly to get something, when the offenders pounced.

Police spotted the car at Norlane, near Geelong, 30 minutes later.

They pursued the car, the BMW was dumped and the child was found inside.

The five-year-old is safe and well.

Police have since arrested a man in relation to the incident.

Anyone with any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to submit confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
