Body found after suspicious house fire in Ballarat

A person has been found dead following a small fire at a house at Ballarat.

Residents first raised the alarm at 8am this morning, after smelling smoke coming from a property on Kenworthy Place in Mount Pleasant.

CFA crews were quick to bring the small fire inside the house under control.

A person was found dead following a search of the property.

The body is yet to be identified.

The exact cause of death unknown but it is being treated as suspicious.

The Homicide Squad are en route to the scene.
